HARLEQUIN ICHTHYOSIS



HARLEQUIN ICHTHYOSIS a skin disease, is the most severe form of congenital ichthyosis, characterized by a thickening of the keratin layer in fetal human skin.In sufferers of the disease the skin contains massive, diamond-shaped scales, and tends to have a reddish color. In addition, the eyes,ears,penis and the appendages may be abnormally contracted. The scaly keratin greatly limits the child's movement. Because of resultant cracked skin in locations where normal skin would fold, it is easily pregnable by bacteria and other contaminants, resulting in serious risk of fatal infection.

FIBRODYSPLASIA OSSIFICANS PROGRESSIVA -STONE MAN SYNDROME



 Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), is a rare, inherited disorder characterized by progressive fibrosing and ossification of muscles, tendons, fascia, aponeurosis and ligaments of multiple sites that is disabling and ultimately fatal. The process of heterotopic ossification starts between 2 and 5 years old.

MADURA FOOT- MYCETOMA



Mycetoma is a chronic subcutaneous infection caused by actinomycetes or fungi. This infection results in a granulomatous inflammatory response in the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue, which can extend to the underlying bone.

STRANGE CULTURES - NECK RINGS






The Kayan are a subgroup of the Red Karen (Karenni) people, a Tibeto-Burman ethnic minority of Burma (Myanmar).Women of the Kayan tribes identify themselves by their forms of dress. Women of the Kayan Lahwi tribe are well known for wearing neck rings, brass coils that are placed around the neck, appearing to lengthen it. The women wearing these coils are known as "giraffe women" to tourists.

The lip plate, also known as a lip plug or lip disc, is a form of body modification. Increasingly large discs (usually circular, and made from clay or wood) are inserted into a pierced hole in either the upper or lower lip, or both, thereby stretching  it. The term labret denotes all kinds of pierced-lip ornaments, including plates and plugs.Today, the custom is maintained by a few groups in Africa and Amazonia.
